Chat on Sametime with the Pure-veg-ex-roomie

PVER - You know that song? Ooncha Lamba kad? From Welcome?

Me - Yes, what about it?

PVER - Well, I find it very funny

Me - Funny? I kinda like it, very typical punjabi song

PVER - No, no, I mean the lyrics

Me - What's funny in the lyrics?

PVER - He calls Katrina manly

Me - Huh? No he doesn't!

PVER - Yes yes, he does, he says ooncha lamba kad, blah blah, and the he calls her mardani - manly

Me (after recapitulating the first few lines in my head)- Aiyyyo, mad you are, he says marda nai, main avai tere utte marda nai, which means, I haven't flipped for you for no reason.

PVER - Podi, he doesn't say 'nai' and all, it is 'ni', mardaaaaaani.

Me
- No ya, the sentence wont make sense in Punjabi, if it was Mardani

PVER - No no, that doesn't matter, you listen properly, and it makes full sense,  what is ooncha lamba kad? tall nuh? See, so he says that and then says mardani, which means tall manly girl, I am telling you, listen to it again, I am right.

Me - *Surrender*

Ok, once again, I missed out on updates for more than a month! Phew!

A lot’s been happening lately. We found a new house. In fact, I think it was the same weekend when I had updated this space last. But I didn’t bother to update this improvement, as this remains a crib-log J. Then, we shifted into the new place on the 1st of April. And have very much settled in there! The lack of any kind of chairs in the previous house has been put right, and two extremely comfortable beanbags now adorn our living room. So much for laziness, laziness, and more laziness!

This update turned out to be longer than I had wanted it to be, and to think it was just a day and a half I was talking about! I am somewhat glad I didn’t post about my Goa trip J that would have been a novel!

So for now, it’s all good. With beanbags, performance bonus (oh! I forgot that!), a newly found video library near our place, everything is just fine. Well, that’s for the updates as of now. Till then, Ciao!!

*Sigh*

Updates: No we couldn’t move into the Oh-so-pretty house we had checked out the week, I wrote my last blog entry. And more importantly, purely on the assumption that we would infact have moved out by now, our replacements in our present place of residence have arrived. Bag and baggage.

Immediate repercussions: One of them would rather shift into a single room, the reason being she’s too tired, exhausted, and would rather shift into a single room immediately, so that she can relax (or wotever!!!!), and so, my entire weekend is spent clearing out one of the cupboards, for pure-veg-flatmate to move in. And now, my extremely pretty, airy, bright, and spacious room, has been converted into a railway platform miniature.

Plan of action: To find another house ASAP. Wanted, a two BHK, somewhere in Begumpet which is equi-distant from both our offices; not too far from the main road, or else it would be difficult to catch the shuttle to work everyday; and with cupboards / shelves please. But apparently, such places don’t exist.

Current situation: Status quo. After two days of following the broker chap, to the sidiest of localities, the dingiest of apartments, and the stinkiest of roads, we still don’t have a place to move into L.

Other than this, life has been busy, yet good. I mean, you would obviously be expected to stretch and complete all the pending work, if you are just back from an awesome 9 day vacation at home, wouldn’t you? So, no complaints there.

Also, very much looking forward to the visit to Jim Corbet national Park in Uttaranchal, the weekend after next. Yup! The campus recruits offsite is finally happening!

That’s about it I guess, and think its actually not so bad. Except for probably the house hunt. But I have found out this totally effective method of drowning my sorrows, frustrations, etc. Paani – poori. I seem to be consuming enormous amounts of those whenever I get a chance. So much so, I think I am going to write a post about this wonderful piece of culinary art. Some other time though. Probably, when I have a place to live in peacefully again. *Sigh*

Quite some time till I posted my oh-so-personal comments about the movies I watched on Weekends. And somehow, I haven’t visited the video library again. And all my weekends (actually just 3 if them) have been extra busy.

Weekend 1 was spent at Habib’s. Finally, finally, I mustered enough guts to get my hair straightened. And well, the results haven’t been very bad. I have actually managed to get rid of the curls, and frizz, which at K, reminded people of ‘Monica at Barbados’, or a nest, or most creatively, ‘water gushing out of a broken pipe’. And they are supposed to stay that way for 6-8 months, post which I need to decide if I am actually interested in burning a hole in my pocket again L. And I wasn’t allowed to tie up my hair for the next two days, and that is something, which is impossible, so stayed at home, watching loads of TV. (And yeah BTW, *Phbbbt* to people who met me after this and didn’t notice it)

Weekend 2 was probably the most pre-planned weekend ever. The trip to K finally happened. And it was very much worth it. The campus, the view from the campus, the SSG fete, and the party, all brought back amazing memories. Everything actually went on as planned, right from the train journey to Bangalore, the sleeper ride to K, the stay at the hostel, and even the Sumo ride back from K, which actually turned out to be ‘more-than-expected’ comfortable!

Weekend 3, which was the last weekend, was spent checking out the new house, we might be shifting into (Long story: Pure-veg flat-mate thinks, non-veg flat-mate not sticking to her promise of not bringing non-veg stuff home, and especially, not using any of the common plates and spoons. Non-veg flat-mate feels, that Pure-veg flat-mate is being too unfair, as she does that only when boy-friend is in town, which is like every alternate weekend, so finally, I am moving out with Pure veg flat-mate, as the latter has another friend who will move in to give her company, and I don’t have any more strength to convince either of them. Long story over.) Then, the rest of the time was spent checking out the awesome clearance sales at all the major malls in the city J and watching ‘Rang De Basanti’ buying tickets in black, at 4 times their original cost. No complaints. It was worth it. (Justification being, if I could watch Bunty Babli with tickets in black, RDB is completely acceptable!)

So, those were the updates from life in general. Client is on a visit to Mexico, so no meetings, no presentations, and no calls. Life simply rocks J!

Its a lazy afternoon. After almost a 9 hour long sleep yesterday night, I still feel really lazy and drowsy, yes its back to normal now. After the initial 2-3 weeks of hyper enthusiaism and energy, and obviously the busy weekennds full of acco hunting, this weekend I shifted (finally shifted) to my new appartment for the next few months. The place is huge, with 3 bedrooms and a living
cum dining room, large enough to actually do figure skating, especially since its absolutely empty too.

Yesterday however, one of the flatmates bought a television, thankfully, considering we couldn't have survived without one, even for one day. So, the entertainment requirements have been taken care of I am supposed to be buying a refrigerator, and its requirement cannot be underestimated. Those who have had
to drink 'luke warm' water when the temmperature outside is nearing 40 degrees would probably agree to this. Our third flatmate is to purchase a microwave , to aid 'cooking' which is certainly not my deparment, so I guess that would be used by me simply to heat up dinner which I would probably pick up on my way back from office.

We have half the terrace to ourselves, as ours is a pent house on top of a five floor building. Inspite of all the comments about how boiling hot the top floors usually are, its actually been heavenly during the nights, what with
a continuous breeze at its best at the higher levels. And then we have half of the terrace to ourselves, which givesus a view of the famous Hussain Sagar Lake in hyderabad. Also , we get to view all kinds of fireworks ,as the span
of our view is pretty vast, and wedding seasons in.

Constant attempts at making the place look a little more inhabited are on. The curtains would be on by the time we get back home today. The rooms have become much more bearable after the cleaning lady's two day efforts. Also laundry is no longer a problem, as the cleaning lady does that too..:)

Watched Parineeta yesterday. In simple words 'Really liked it'. A short movie , lasting around 2 hours 15 minutes, with good music, decent actors, happy storyline (OMG, was that a spoiler???)I couldn't have asked for more. It might have to do with the last movie I saw here. B&B. Absolute disaster, really nothing to talk about. Especially since I had pretty high expectations from an
Amitabh, Abhishek, Rani starrer. But Parineeta was really good. Next: Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Paheli.

Thats enough blogging for now I guess. Will hope fully update soon and more often.. till then, Ciao
